Saint Francis Community Health Care Inc. of Worcester has established a new charitable foundation to support the development of health care programs in Worcester County.
The foundation was formed by the Saint Francis board of directors and will act as a funding source for social service providers that deal with children and the elderly.
Michael D. Stowe, vice chairman and vice president of the Saint Francis board, said the foundation "will use a rigorous review process for soliciting proposals for funding on behalf of local agencies." The foundation also has its own informational web site.
Saint Francis Community Health Care was formed earlier this year after its sale of the Saint Francis Home to Landmark Health Solutions, a management and consulting firm. The home was renamed the Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
The foundation was formed to identify the health care needs of the elderly in Worcester County.
