Framingham-based office supply giant Staples Inc. has named John Barton executive vice president of international development, Anders Kristiansen president of Staples China and Noah Herschman chief of merchandizing for Staples China.
The executive vice president position is a new one for the company, and it gives Barton responsibility for Staples business in China, India and South America. He has worked for the company since 1990, most recently as executive vice president of real estate.
Kristiansen will report to Barton and take responsibility for all day-to-day operations in Staples’ China business. He previously served as managing director of Lyreco’s Asia Pacific division. Before that he held leadership positions at European office supply companies GBC, Herlitz, euro buro and Bogpa.
Kristiansen is taking the position in China over from Pat Hickey, who is returning to the United States.
Herschman will head up contract, catalog and retail merchandizing in China, reporting to Kristiansen. He previously worked at Amazon.com as director of merchandizing for home and mobile electronics.
