State Employees' CU name on counterfeit checks
Counterfeit checks bearing the name Connecticut State Employees' Credit Union are in circulation.
The CSE Credit Union contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. with the information and that the counterfeit items are reportedly associated with a "Secret Shopper" scam.
A basic "Secret Shopper" scam involves a fake check that is sent to the potential victim as part of being offered a mystery shopper job that does not exist.
