An agreement between the Division of Apprentice Training (DAT), the Worcester Technical High School, the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #4 and the Local #63 sheet metal workers organization will help create 16 new pre-apprenticeship/apprenticeship positions for students.
The agreement will be formally signed on Wednesday at the Worcester Technical High School. As a result, students will be able to train as apprentices in fields such as heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC), welding and plumbing, and sheet metal.
Worcester Technical High School co-op coordinator Delores Anderson noted that many of the students will participate in co-op positions during their senior year and have full-time positions with area contractors after graduation.
The agreement signing takes place on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Worcester Technical High School.
