Templeton Light And Water Plant To Get A Wind Turbine

Woburn-based Solaya Energy, a division of Lumus Construction, announced it has been awarded a contract to construct a $3.7 million, 262-foot wind turbine in Templeton.

Canadian company AAER will manufacture the turbine, which is expected to generate 1.65 megawatts of power.

The turbine will provide about 5 percent of the town's annual residential, business and municipal power needs. It will be built behind the Narragansett Regional High School on Baldwinville Road.

The Westborough-based Massachusetts Technology Collaborative contributed a $400,000 grant to the project.
