Treading water at PLC

Franklin-based PLC Systems Inc., a cardiac and vascular medical device-based technology company, reported second quarter total revenues just slightly below those of 2006.
Total revenues for the second quarter of this year were $1,932,000, the company said, compared to $1,943,000 for the second quarter of 2006, a dip of less than 1 percent.
The quarterly numbers represent a net loss of $363,000 for the second quarter, compared to a net income of $72,000 in the second quarter of 2006.
Year-to-date, PLC reported total revenue of $3.4 million, down slightly, again, from 2006, when the company posted $3.8 million during the same period.
For the year, the company is at a net loss of $1 down significantly from the same period in 2006, when the company reported a profit of $1.3 million, largely due to the $1.4 million sale of its Optiwave disposable manufacturing rights to Irvine, Calif.-based Edwards Lifesciences Corp.
