UMass Med School Profs Honored

University of Massachusetts President Jack M. Wilson honored six of the system's faculty members, including two from UMass Medical School in Worcester, for their community service efforts.

Deborah Harmon Hines, professor of cell biology, was chosen for her work helping children from under-represented communities in Worcester gain science and math skills necessary for health science and science careers.

Jean King, professor of psychiatry, was chosen for her work with women and adolescent girls.

She has been involved in Daybreak Resources for Women and Children of Worcester for 16 years. The organization provides shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and encourages understanding of the issue.
