Unemployment filings up 2,000

In the week ending June 30, the seasonally adjusted number of American workers filing for unemployment insurance for the first time was 318,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The week's total was an increase of 2,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 316,000.
The 4-week moving average was 318,500, an increase of 1,750 from the previous week's revised average of 316,750.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2 percent for the week ending June 23, an increase of 0.1 percent from the prior week's rate.

The number of people collecting unemployment insurance benefits during the week ending June 23 was 2,569,000, an increase of 84,000 from the preceding week's revised level of 2,485,000.

The four-week moving average was 2,513,750, compared to the previous four-week moving average of 2,504,000.
