United Bank has hired Howard Bregman as a mortgage originator for the Worcester region. The bank also promoted Kara Wiersma, Jill Wardle and Lori Kostiw.
The West Springfield-based bank acquired Worcester's Commonwealth National Bank last year.
Bregman previously worked as a senior mortgage consultant at Community First Bank in Worcester. He has also worked for 1-800-East West Mortgage, Family Choice Mortgage and Lendia LLC, all in the Worcester area. Before beginning his career in the mortgage industry, he held sales and marketing positions in telecommunications, retail and textiles.
Bregman will be based at United's Worcester region headquarters at 33 Waldo St. in Worcester.
Wiersma, formerly assistant branch manager of Commonwealth's Shrewsbury office, is now a personal banker at United's Whitinsville office. She is a Whitinsville resident and worked for Commonwealth since 2003. She has a bachelor's degree from Boston University.
Wardle and Kostiw, formerly branch managers at Commonwealth's Whitinsville office, are now vice presidents and cash management specialists with United's commercial banking team. Wardle has 15 years of experience in financial services and is a member of the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Kostiw also has 15 years experience in the field. Before moving to Commonwealth, she was a branch manager with Flagship Bank & Trust Co. She has an MBA from Assumption College and is a member of the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce.
