U.S. Employment Grows

U.S. nonfarm payroll employment grew by 192,000 jobs between January and February, while unemployment dropped slightly, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The national unemployment rate stood at 8.9 percent in February, compared to 9 percent in January and 9.7 percent in February 2010.

Of those who were unemployed in February, 43.9 percent had been without a job for 27 weeks or longer.

Industries where jobs grew included manufacturing, construction, professional and business services, health care and transportation and warehousing.
