Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up
doing?

A. Honestly, I thought I would be a catcher for the Red Sox and began my career as a professional baseball player for the Florida Marlins. But, where those two jobs align is that I always aspired to be in a leadership role and with an organization that gives back to the community. This job covers both of those areas.

Q. How are you settling in at your new office?
A. Outstanding. It is has been exciting to learn about the company, which has an impressive culture of execution.

Q. What's the biggest surprise you've had in starting the job?
A. I am very impressed by the corporate vision - to be a world class property and casualty company and the best partner for winning independent agents. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by the immense skill set of the Massachusetts team. Before coming to The Hanover, I was told I would be working with one of the best teams in the business. It is true.

Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. I am looking forward to going out in the field to meet the local independent agents - many of which I already have relationships with - and to determine how I can help to add even more value to our partnerships with them.

Q. How different is this job from your previous position?
A. The Hanover is built on the idea of being the best partner for winning independent agents. Through my new role, I will have an increased ability to work with the best agents in our market, understanding their needs and align our capabilities with theirs in a way that helps us to grow and win, together.

Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. The Wonder Bar - great pizza.

Q. What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
A. I hope to help The Hanover and its agent partners continue to win and grow through increased responsibility at the company.
