WPI Adds Architectural Engineering Degree
Worcester Polytechnic Institute is launching a new interdisciplinary program in architectural engineering, the first of its kind in New England.
The program will start in the fall 2012 semester, and students will be able to graduate with a bachelor of science degree in the subject. The university said there are only 17 such programs in the country.
Architectural engineers focus on the structural soundness of buildings as well as electrical, mechanical, heating and other systems.
The WPI program will combine resources from the departments of civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, fire protection engineering, humanities and arts and mechanical engineering.
