Eight projects, four of them in Central Massachusetts, received approval to participate in a state investment tax credit program. Today's announcement by the Economic Assistance Coordinating Council (EACC) said the projects were approved based on their sponsors' job-creation and job-retention commitments, as well as their level of sales outside the state.
The Central Massachusetts projects that will be part of the program are:
• Magmotor Technologies, Inc., a maker of electro-mechanical motion control solutions for equipment manufacturers serving several high-technology markets. The company plans to expand by moving from its current site in West Boylston to Worcester, and more than triple its current space of 14,000 square feet. The expansion will create 45 jobs and retain 14 more.
• Benovations, LLC, of Leominster, a recently formed company that's acquiring the cider-making operations of Carlson Orchards, Inc., of Harvard. The company will be expanding and relocating within Leominster, adding six jobs and saving six others.
• Vestas Technology R&D Americas Inc., of Marlborough, which is launching a project that will be the North American research hub for electric power generators for Vestas, a Danish maker of wind turbines. Vestas's project will create 66 jobs and retain 33 more.
• Techo-Bloc (NE) Corp. of North Brookfield, which makes various styles of concrete products used in landscaping. The privately-held, family-owned Canadian business is buying and renovating an abandoned pre-cast concrete plant that has been vacant for three years. It plans to hire 52 employees and retain three others.
