As Massachusetts lawmakers attempt to reconcile House and Senate versions of the fiscal 2012 state budget, the Associated Industries of Massachusetts is praising several aspects of both budget plans.
In a letter to legislative budget leaders, AIM thanked the House and Senate for passing spending bills that do not increase taxes. It also praised a plan to convert the state workforce training fund into a trust that would be separate from the state budget.
Considering aspects of the budget that related to controlling health care costs, AIM praised plans to better manage MassHealth patients' care and coordinate the care of patients with chronic conditions.
AIM also expressed its continuing support for allowing municipalities to make changes to their employees' health insurance without negotiations with employee unions. It also praised efforts to change the state law that awards treble damages for violations of wage and hour laws.
