What's on the office holiday shopping list for businesspeople? According to a study from Framingham-based Staples, a new coffee machine or new furniture for the break room top the list.
Other office wish-list items included a chair massager or new office supplies.
Employees are also looking for holiday treats. An estimated 42 percent of respondents said they hope their office will have some sort of holiday treat in the break room this year, such as holiday cookies. Only 22 percent said they would prefer a healthier holiday treat, such as fruit.
But is it appropriate to give gifts in the workplace? According to the survey, most businesses give out gifts to clients, with the most common gift being a holiday card, followed by gift baskets or holiday treats.
The survey also found that an estimated 38 percent of offices around the country will have a holiday party this year, up 3 percent from last year.
Of the 35 percent that held a party last year, 15 percent said that the holiday party was scaled down this year.
Staples conducted the questionnaire via its Twitter feed (@StaplesTweets). More than 1,150 users responded to the survey.
