A number of Central Massachusetts businesses are finding ways to feature the color green as part of the Paint the Town Green campaign in support of Worcester-based Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass & MetroWest.
Part of a nationwide effort to support Big Brothers Big Sisters, which supports children through individualized mentoring programs, local businesses are offering green-themed products, lighting their businesses green, or finding other ways to bring awareness to the nonprofit’s effort. The campaign began on Sunday and runs through Saturday.
Participating businesses include the Top of the Tower event space at 446 Main St. and the DCU Center in Worcester, which along with Worcester City Hall have been lit up green at night to support the campaign this week.
“Mentorship changes lives, and right now, there are so many children in our region waiting for the guidance and support of a caring mentor,” Connie Askin, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass & MetroWest, said in a Wednesday press release providing an update on the campaign. “Paint the Town Green is a fun and visible way for our community to come together, spark conversations, and highlight what Big Brothers Big Sisters is all about.”
Other participating businesses include Root & Press cafe and bookstore on Worcester’s Shrewsbury Street, which is offering a green-colored Big Mint Matcha drink in support of the campaign, along with Worcester-based art supply business C.C. Lowell Art Supply Co. and Bri’s Sweet Treats dessert shop in Worcester’s Canal District. A full map of participating businesses can be found here.
