Polar Beverages and Eversource hosted a tour Thursday at the Polar Beverage company’s Worcester facility with Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito to highlight recent energy efficiency upgrades.

These upgrades, including new gas-fired equipment and controls and a higher capacity service line, have increased production capacity and efficiency at the Worcester bottling facility.

Since 2010, Eversource Energy has partnered with the Southbridge Street drink maker to provide technical support and incentives to complete energy efficiency projects on its gas-fired equipment at the Worcester facility.

In that time, the company said it has replaced six water heaters with smaller, high efficiency units and adding controls to a boiler to better manage energy use during the water pasteurization process, Eversource said.

With its new equipment, Polar has increased production and also saved $180,000 annually in energy costs.

For more than 137 years Polar Beverages has made Polar Seltzer, Adirondack, Clear & Sparkling, O Water and Frannie’s, along with brand partnerships for bottling, private-label manufacturing and distribution for regional and national brand partners. Today Polar Beverages produces and distributes from three locations: Worcester; Albany, N.Y.; and Fitzgerald, Ga.

Eversource delivers electricity and natural gas and supplies water to 4 million customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
