Biz Confidence Dives In May

Business owners' confidence in the economy waned during the month of May, according to the latest report from the Associated Industries of Massachusetts.

AIM's monthly Business Confidence Index dropped from a recent high of 56.1 in April to 51.7 in May. A measure of 50 is considered neutral.

Confidence had climbed for three consecutive months since February.

While still erratic, confidence levels are well above their historical low of 33.3, which was recorded in February 2009.

AIM's index is based on a survey of AIM members.
