CCC unveils recreational marijuana policy tracking webpage

The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission has launched a new webpage to help recreational cannabis license applicants, communities, and the public identify the status of adult-use marijuana zoning and related policies.

The CCC database allows users to search whether a municipality has passed planning or zoning for adult marijuana, if a license cap is in place, or if a ban may prevent locating a pot shop in a community.

With the introduction of new license types last year, the CCC said the public can follow municipalities authorizing home delivery in their communities or participating in a pilot program for social consumption.

The CCC developed the tracker through surveys in 2018 and 2019 sent to municipalities about zoning bylaws, and similar issues relative to adult-use cannabis. Results were organized into a table that identifies each city and town, the link to their homepage to create lines of communication with the community, and the status of planning, zoning, and related decisions impacting the marijuana industry in that area.

The data was self-reported by the city or town, but not every municipality has responded to the survey. The page will be updated biweekly and expanded as the CCC receives new information from officials.
