Southwick-based Whalley Computer Associates has awarded the Clarke School for the Deaf a $20,000 "technology makeover."
Clarke, which is based in Northampton, will receive computer equipment and services based on the needs expressed to WCA as part of the $30,000 "virtual technology makeover contest."
WCA said it tried to choose winners that not only needed the computer technology and services themselves, but that could also demonstrate a need for those things on the part of their clients and customers.
Clarke intends to use its winnings to expand its collaboration with schools and other programs to help deaf and hard-of-hearing children learn to speak. The company also expects significant savings from a new printer and server consolidation.
Clarke was the grand prize winner in the contest. Other contestants chosen to receive computer equipment or services were the Worcester County Sheriff's Dept., Westborough Public Schools and the Dudley-Charlton Regional School District, among others.
