Connecticut nonprofit real estate Corporation for Independent Living on Wednesday purchased a home in Sturbridge for $389,900 to be used as a home for people with disabilities.

Vice President of Development David McKinley said the organization is working together with Boston-based Community Resources for Justice to renovate the 2,300-square-foot home for the future occupancy of five people with disabilities.

Community Resources for Justice is entering into a long-term lease with CIL and at the end of the lease, the property will be donated to the lessee, McKinley said.

McKinley said his organization is responsible for about 700 similar transactions throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts, where the nonprofit buys, develops and sustains housing for other nonprofit organizations.
