Cost Cuts Help Littleton Tack Co.

Littleton-based equestrian supply retailer Dover Saddlery Inc. reported a $272,000 profit for the third quarter on revenue of $18.5 million.

A year ago, the company reported a $174,000 profit on revenue of $19 million. Same store sales decreased by 2.3 percent.

The profit increase was the result of cost and inventory reduction initiatives, the company said.

For the first nine months of the year, revenue was $54.1 million, a decrease of 4.5 percent from $56.6 million last year. Same store sales decreased 4.3 percent.

The company reported a $21,448 profit for the nine months of the year compared to $65,029 a year ago.
