Darwin builds online risk calculator
Specialty insurance firm Darwin Professional Underwriters Inc. of Farmington has created a free, online calculator that it said allows companies to estimate their financial risk from data theft. The calculator was developed using published media reports and industry analysis and surveys. Darwin, which underwrites technology and information liability, said that the rapid growth of corporate data collection and storage has put nearly every organization at risk of data theft and its costs. The three biggest expenses stemming from data theft are internal investigations, notifying customers meeting regulatory compliance, Darwin said.
