Evergreen To Supply Panels To Patriot Place

About 30 percent of the electricity used by the Patriot Place shopping center in Foxborough will be generated by solar panels made by Evergreen Solar Inc. of Marlborough.

Evergreen said Patriot Place, which is adjacent to Gillette Stadium, has decided to outfit the center with a 525 kilowatt installation that is expected to supply about 12 million kilowatt hours of electricity over the next 20 years.

Patriot Place is about 1.3 million square feet. The Evergreen installation will power about 30 percent of it with nearly 3,000 panels.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. For the third quarter, Evergreen reported an $82.4 million net loss compared to a $24.6 million loss a year earlier. The company has a massive manufacturing facility in Devens and announced earlier this month that all of its future expansion will be in China.
