Family-Size Sales Increase At BJ's

BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. of Natick said the average customer transaction increased by 4 percent in November and drove an 11.7 percent sales increase for the company during the month.

BJ's reported November sales of $746.3 million, and $7.1 billion in sales for the 43 weeks ended Dec. 1. Same-store sales increased 7.7 percent despite a 1.3 percent decrease in gasoline sales.

Also, the company stuck to its annual "holiday member acquisition program" and increased traffic to its club locations by 1 percent. Departments with the strongest sales increases compared to last year include food, makeup, televisions and video games.
