Finalist For Framingham Development Post Withdraws

The only finalist chosen for a position as Framingham 's director of community and economic development no longer wants to be considered for the job.

The finalist, who has not been identified by town officials, withdrew an application for the job after a months-long search for a permanent department director, according to Julian M. Suso, Framingham's town manager. He said the search would continue.

The town did not give the finalist's reasons for withdrawing the application.

The search for a permanent replacement for former director Kathy Bartolini has been ongoing since her late August departure. She held the position for eight years. Assistant Town Manager Tim Goddard has been serving as interim director since then, and will continue to do so until a permanent replacement is found, Suso said.

The town will re-advertise the position, according to Suso. A previous posting of the job listed a minimum of seven to 10 years public planning experience and a master’s degree in urban, regional or city planning or a related field as required qualifications.

The town did not disclose whether any of the approximately half dozen candidates interviewed originally for the post would be asked to re-apply.
