First-time unemployment claims drop

According to the U.S. Department of Labor , 318,000 Americans filed for unemployment insurance coverage for the first time, a decrease of 19,000 from the previous week.
The insured unemployment rate was 2 percent for the week ending Aug. 25, an increase of 0.1 percent compared to the previous week.
The department reported that 2,598,000 Americans claimed unemployment insurance benefits during the week ended Aug. 25, an increase of 25,000 compared to the previous week.
