Fitchburg Manufacturer Sees Improvement

Arrhythmia Research Technology Inc. and its subsidiary Micron Products Inc. of Fitchburg reported a profit of $374,000 for 2009 on revenue of $21 million.

The revenue figure is a 6 percent decrease from the prior year while the profit is a 4 percent increase.

For the fourth quarter, the sensor manufacturer brought in revenue of $5.6 million, an 18 percent increase over the same period a year ago. It reported a $107,000 profit for the quarter compared to $9,700 a year earlier.

The company said "cost containment" efforts over the last six months were to thank for the revenue growth and increased profitability. The company ended the year with cash and working capital of $3.7 million and $8.9 million, increases of 58 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
