The Greater Worcester Community Foundation has opened applications into the two grant programs designed last year to be responsive to the needs exposed by the coronavirus pandemic and the reckoning in racial justice, but this year with a focus on nonprofit support and effectiveness, the organization announced on Thursday.

"By investing in nonprofit operations, capacity building, and systems transformation, the foundation is supporting strong and inclusive organizations that will deliver high-quality, equitable services to our community," said Caroyln Stempler, GWCF interim president and CEO, in the press release.

The Community Grant Program, the foundation’s hallmark grant program, includes refined guidelines and priorities, according to a press release. This program provides general operating or project support grants and will focus on three focus areas: health and wellbeing, thriving families, and creative Worcester. Grants range from $2,500 to $50,000.

Secondly, the Nonprofit Effectiveness Grant Program will replace GWCF’s Mini-Grant Program. Through this initiative, the foundation will aim to support nonprofit organizations with values-driven activities increasing nonprofit capacity, enhancing organizational culture, and creating a space for critical planning. Grants will range up to $10,000.

Community Grants applications will be open until Sept. 15. Nonprofit Effectiveness Grants will remain open until Nov. 15.
