Help for Fitchburg entrepreneurs

If you’re thinking of starting a small business in Fitchburg, your life just got a little bit easier. The Pioneer Institute, a Boston-based public policy group, is releasing a guide to government regulations affecting small businesses in the city.

“Navigating Through Regulations and Licensing Requirements,” set to be officially released at a press conference this afternoon, provides a step-by-step guide to negotiating local, state and federal regulations for the owners of more than 20 kinds of small businesses. It also includes a list of resources for starting or expanding a business.

Fitchburg Savings Bank and the Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation provided funding for the report, which is the latest in a series of local guides by the institute. Other booklets cover Boston, Lawrence, Quincy, Worcester, Springfield, Lowell, Brockton and New Bedford.

“The Entrepreneurial Guide provides a rational, transparent process to opening your business here in Fitchburg,” Mayor Dan H. Mylott said.
