Hometown Bank, a mutual bank based in Webster, is opening its newest branch on Saturday, Sept. 15, in Auburn.
The new bank, in the Heritage Plaza at 569 Southbridge St., will be Hometown's sixth location and its first in Auburn. Its other locations are in Athol, Oxford, South Lancaster, Sturbridge and Webster.
"The property has been refurbished from floor to ceiling inside and a new ATM and drive-through window have been installed for customer convenience," Branch Manager Tina M. Puzo said of the new site.
To celebrate, the bank will host a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 15 with town officials, area legislators and Chamber of Commerce officers. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.
Radio station WXLO will provide entertainment, and there will be refreshments, prizes and giveaways that include a pair of tickets to the Nov. 10 Justin Bieber concert with a pair of backstage passes to meet the performer, a 46-inch Sony LCD TV, and an opportunity to enter the cash and prize cube wind tunnel.
Puzo said there will be promotions offered that day only for new checking accounts, certificates of deposit and money market checking accounts with special rates.
