Honesty is everything

A recent survey found that nearly one third of CFOs think the most important quality for a business leader to possess is integrity.

The poll, organized by staffing agency Robert Half Management Resources of Menlo Park, Calif., was administered to 1,400 CFOs from a sample of U.S. companies with  at least 20 employees.

“Integrity” was the answer of 31 percent of CFOs who were asked which qualities they felt were most important in business leaders today.

“Experience” and “Communication Skills” were tied for second with 27 percent of responses apiece.

“History has shown the importance of integrity in all aspects of business, from managing assets to managing people,” said Paul McDonald, executive director of Robert Half Management Resources. “Corporate scandals of the recent past have underscored the need for sound corporate governance practices and transparency in financial reporting.”
