Kilby Street Project wins $700K

The Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) has awarded $700,000 to the Main South Community Development Corp. (CDC) for the Kilby Street Project, part of the ongoing revitalization effort in the Main South district of Worcester.

The state's Housing Stabilization Fund, a division of the DHCD, was responsible for producing the endowment.  An additional $500,000 in down payment assistance was also granted by the American Dream Down Payment Initiative, a federal program designed to help homebuyers procure a loan to put towards the purchase of a house.

All 14 units of housing in the Kilby Street initiative, built by the Main South CDC,  will be sold as affordable housing.  Other communities included in the project are Bourne, Montague, Athol, and Springfield.
