Last UMass System Hospital Goes Tobacco Free

As of Valentine's Day, Clinton Hospital will be among the growing number of area hospitals that forbid smoking or any other use of tobacco anywhere on its campus.

The hospital is the last in the UMass Memorial Health Care system to go tobacco free.

Clinton Hospital said it has forbidden smoking inside its buildings for some time. As of next Monday, tobacco use will also be banned on hospital sidewalks and parking lots.

The hospital also offers a public smoking cessation support group through Fallon Community Health plan.

UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester went tobacco free in 2008.
