Local Youth Program Gets DOL Grant

The YouthBuild program in Worcester and three other Massachusetts cities have been awarded $2.4 million from the U.S. Department of Labor for education and job training.

Training Resources of America Inc. of Worcester will receive $314,899 for the Worcester YouthBuild program. Organizations in Brockton, Fall River and Lowell have also received grants.

YouthBuild helps out-of-school youths get diplomas and GEDs and provides occupational training in the construction industry by building and renovating affordable housing in their communities. YouthBuild USA is based in Somerville and will receive a $687,500 grant from the DOL to rebuild homes in Mississippi destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
