• Junior Achievement of Southwest New England in Hartford received a $30,000 grant from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. The donation will be used to purchase curriculum kits and materials to increase financial literacy for students.
• Yvonne M. Martin, director of high-rise and global accounts at Otis Elevator Co. in Farmington, was inducted to the Academy of Women Leaders of the YWCA of the City of New York. Martin was recognized for professional achievement, civic commitment and leadership.
• The SBM Charitable Foundation Inc. presented Hartford’s Camp Courant with a $10,000 grant to fund the expansion of the camp’s GuardStart program.
• Mercy Housing & Shelter in Hartford received 175 pounds of non-perishable food items from Hartford Healthcare Federal Credit Union. Staff and members of the credit union collected items in a food drive.
• Avid Inc. in East Hartford donated its design services to the fifteenth annual Storybook Gala to benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Avid created invitations, program booklets, table cards and signs for the event.
