OneShield, a Marlborough-based insurance software firm, is looking to enter its next phase of growth after appointing a new CEO and creating the new role of chief innovation officer.
Tony Villa, the former president of the firm's OneShield Enterprise business unit, has taken over the role of CEO. Villa replaces Cameron Parker, OneShield’s CEO since 2020, who will now become operating chairman of the company, according to a July 10 press release from OneShield.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of CEO at such a pivotal moment for OneShield,” Villa said in the press release. “Our mission remains unchanged: to create customer advocacy by delivering modern, agile core systems that empower insurers to grow, adapt, and serve their customers better than ever before.”
Villa has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance software space, most recently at Canada-based Volaris Group. Villa served as CEO of Alabama-based Insuresoft from 2004 to 2019. He holds a doctorate degree in intellectual property law from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Separately, OneShield appointed Doug Moore to the newly created role of chief innovation officer in an effort to utilize artificial intelligence across its product portfolio. Moore has more than 30 years of relevant experience, including holding leadership roles at California-based Guidewire Software and Alabama-based Command Alkon, according to a Thursday press release from OneShield.
“OneShield’s commitment to responsible innovation and practical AI adoption is exactly what the insurance industry needs right now,” Moore said in the Thursday press release. “This is an opportunity to equip insurers with tools and training that help solve real problems, not just follow the hype.”
Liza Petrie, formerly OneShield’s chief product officer, will take over Villa’s role as the head of the firm’s OneShield Enterprise Unit. Former Chief of Staff Will Sullivan will take over as general manager of the enterprise unit.
“This transition represents the next chapter in OneShield’s journey,” Parker said in the July 10 press release. “I’m very proud of the OneShield team and what we’ve built together over the last five years.”
Founded in 1999, OneShield’s software helps property & casualty insurers and managing general agent insurers with policy management, billing, claims, and other aspects of the insurance business, according to its website. The company is headquartered at 62 Forest St. in Marlborough, with additional offices in India.
