Middlesex bank names new CEO

John R. Heerwagen was officially named CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank of Natick after a year as the bank's president.

Heerwagen takes the CEO position from A. James Lavoie, who retired from the bank after 32 years.

Heerwagen has been in banking for nearly 30 years, and held executive positions in Middlesex's lending and administration departments before becoming bank president last year.

Heerwagen was made president of the bank after Lavoie announced his retirement last spring. Lavoie left the job last week.

Middlesex Savings Bank is an independent bank with more than $3 billion in assets and 24 branches in 20 towns just west of Boston. The bank also has four commercial banking centers.
