Movers & Shakers: May 12, 2014

BRIAN R. BEATON, LYNETTE PACZKOWSKI and ARIEL G. SULLIVAN were hired as partners by Worcester law firm Bowditch & Dewey. Beaton is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned his law degree from Suffolk University. His practice focuses on real estate and environmental law. Paczkowski, a litigator, holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a juris doctorate from Boston College. Sullivan, who specializes in labor, employment and higher education, graduated from Emory University and The Catholic University of America, where she earned her law degree.

CHERYL A. CAIN, STEPHEN J. McANDREW and KAREN E. MOE were all promoted as vice presidents and MELISSA J. LINDBERG, JILL A. MOLLICA and CHARLES L. PARK JR. to assistant vice presidents by Hudson-based Avidia Bank. Cain, of Clinton, was originally hired as a merchant plan administrator in 2005. McAndrew, of Holden, was hired in 1999 as a loan processor and served in other roles before being named assistant vice president and commercial loan officer in 2008. Moe, of Worcester, was promoted to assistant vice president and financial analyst in 2008, having worked in various positions at the bank since 1999. Lindberg, previously a consumer lending officer, lives in West Boylston. Mollica, of Berlin, has been a cash management client specialist at the bank since 2011, having been hired in 2008. Parks joined the bank in 2008 and was promoted to workout credit administration officer in 2011.

JOHN A. McDONALD was hired by Becker College as vice president of strategy, business development and innovation for the Worcester school, where he has served as a consultant since October. His previous posts include co-founder and CEO of Catalyst Oncology Inc., a breast cancer biomarker company; and president and CEO of Milkhaus Laboratory. He held prior vice president roles at Pharmacia Corp., Pharmacia and Upjohn, and Pharmitalia Carlo Erba. McDonald was an adjunct professor at Boston College and at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. He earned an undergraduate degree in biosciences from the University of Western Ontario; an MBA from Ashland University; and a Ph.D. from Capella University in organization and management, corporate mergers.

CHRISTOPHER CARELLI was hired as a partner and senior wealth advisor by Carr Financial Group in Worcester. He has been in the financial industry since 2000, when he worked as a stock trader. He later worked as a bond broker/trader.

MARK GROENHEIDE was named specialty marine unit assistant vice president and BARRY MAY switched to technical underwriting director at Acadia Insurance, which has a Marlborough office. Groenheide joined Acadia in 2010 as director of the marine division. Before that, he worked as a marine specialist with Hanover Insurance Group, and then for the ACE Group as a senior inland marine underwriter for its global property division. May began at Acadia in 2007 as vice president of specialty marine. He previously worked in senior management positions at Hanover Insurance, Allmerica Property Casualty Insurance Group and Global Insurance Network Inc. Acadia is based in Westbrook, Maine.

CHERYL A. BEAUVAIS was hired by Medway-based Charles River Bank as a vice president and retail lending officer. She was most recently a vice president and senior loan officer at Bank of Easton, in Easton. Beauvais has also worked in various positions at Strata Bank in Franklin; Randolph Savings Bank; Rockland Trust Co.; Bristol County Savings and Lafayette Credit Union.

PATRICIA BROWN was hired by Barre Savings Bank as manager of its Princeton branch. She formerly worked as director of human resources at Sisters of the Assumption for three years. A resident of Barre, Brown holds a bachelor's degree in management from Lesley University.

ERIN DELANEY was elected treasurer of the board of directors for the Rainbow Childhood Development Center of Worcester. She is a manager with Shepherd & Goldstein, a certified public accounting and business development consulting firm based in Worcester.

RALPH CAPORELLI was promoted to vice president and general manager of Diamond Technical Services in South Grafton, a metrology firm that provides calibration services. He joined the firm about seven years ago as a senior metrologist. Before that, he had worked at Danaher Corp. Dover Motion Division as a quality supervisor.

DIANA BRUNEAU and MAUREEN WHITE were promoted to branch managers by Southbridge-based Savers Bank. Bruneau, with the bank for 35 years, will serve the Uxbridge branch. She started as a teller and worked her way up to Grafton branch manager; White has been with Savers for 10 years and in banking for 20. She was assistant branch manager in Grafton.

LEON LAVALLEE was promoted to product development manager by Southbridge-based Hyde Industrial Blade Solutions. He began with Hyde as a die-maker apprentice and served in a number of roles. He was most recently director of technical support.

ALEXIS P. MINARD was hired by TD Bank in Sturbridge as assistant vice president and sales representative in TD Merchant Services. She was previously a business consultant at Wells Fargo. Minard earned an undergraduate degree from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Conn., and an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2010.

BRIAN SCANLON was hired by Hopkinton-based Weston Nurseries as a hardscape sales specialist. He will also oversee the stone business in the company's Chelmsford store. Scanlon was most recently employed as a lead in sales and design with Terrascaping & Construction. He started his own landscape and design service out of college and also worked for Bigelow Nurseries as a wholesale sales representative and as general manager for Camosse Masonry Supply in Worcester. Scanlon holds a bachelor's degree in environmental design from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

LEE CURTIS was promoted by Boston-based BSC Group, an engineering firm with offices in Worcester, to manager of ecological services. She has been with the firm since 2004, working in areas of wildlife and wetlands with such clients as National Grid and NStar.

RAQUEL PEREZ and GREG PARKER were hired by Maynard-based JM Coull Inc., a construction firm. Perez was hired as an estimator. She was formerly an estimator at Elaine Construction in Newton, and held similar positions at Sea-Dar Construction in Boston and Tocci Building Corp. in Woburn. Parker will serve as a senior project manager. He was most recently a project executive at Comeau & Kelly in Stoughton and served as senior project manager at the Clark Construction Group in Boston.

MICHAEL J. TOOMEY was hired as chief lending officer and senior vice president of lending at Athol Savings Bank. He was most recently senior vice president of lending for Franklin Savings Bank in Franklin, N.H. Toomey, of Winchendon, holds a bachelor's degree from Clark University and earned his MBA from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.

MARK VEAU was promoted to program director by Cumulus Media at WORC-FM in Worcester. It is his 12th year with the station, where he has served in many different roles, including as afternoon-drive personality. The Worcester resident previously worked at WFTQ 1440 AM and was part of the promotions street team for its sister station, WAAF 107.3 FM. n
