No Tie For Gen. Y

There was a time when it didn't really matter what professionals liked or didn't like to wear to work, they always wore a suit and tie, or at least a jacket and tie.

But according to the results of a recent OfficeTeam survey, only 4 percent of young people just entering the workforce "indicated that they would like to wear business attire in the office." The vast majority of those workers said they'd rather dress in "business casual" attire or "jeans and sneakers."

That runs completely counter to the responses of executives, 93 percent of whom said that a person's style of dress influences his or her chances of earning a promotion. OfficeTeam, an international temporary staffing agency, said it can be difficult for companies to maintain a professional image and still attract recent college graduates.
