North Brookfied Bank Outgrows 150-Year-Old Branch

North Brookfield Savings Bank plans to move its tellers, ATM, loan department and other branch services from 35 Summer St. to 9 Gilbert St. this fall.

The bank's executive and operations offices will remain at the Summer Street office, which the bank has called home since 1854.
Bill Kobel, the bank's CEO, said the bank is building a brand new, 3,000-square-foot branch on a corner lot off Gilbert Street next to a Hannaford supermarket. When complete, the branch will include 10 employees. Another 15 will remain at the corporate office on Summer Street.

"We've outgrown the space," Kobel said. "And it gives us a little more visibility being right on the main street there." He said the bank also hoped to turn Hannaford shoppers into North Brookfield Savings Bank customers.

The bank hasn't finalized a budget, or put any aspect of its construction out to bid, Kobel said. He said the bank hopes to open the new branch in September or October.
