Old Sturbridge Village has received a $1 million donation from a member of its Board of Trustees, which will go towards funding a new challenge grant program.
In an effort to encourage support for the Village's Annual Fund, the Village Challenge will match increases in previous gifts as well as the full amount of new gifts on a two-to-one basis through December 31, 2006. This initiative will generate two additional dollars for every new dollar raised.
The Annual Fund helps support OSV's programs and historical buildings, as well as the landscape, visitor amenities, and staff. The Village Challenge will continue into next year with a one-to-one match for increased and new gifts received between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007 up to a total of $1 million in matching support.
Village officials hope that the 2006 Village Challenge will encourage donors old and new to donate before the year's end with the promise that their gifts will be matched on a two-to-one basis.
The Village Trustee donating the monies wished to remain anonymous.
