Out of the cube, into better health

The American Heart Association wants workers to get out of their chairs and walk, and today, a group of area executives are taking a step toward that goal in Worcester.

At 2:41 p.m. at Worcester Commons, the executives will take an hour walk in honor of the heart association's first Start! Walking at Work Day.

According to the association, 200,000 people nationwide will participate in the event.

Walking in Worcester today will be: John Polanowicz of Marlborough Hospital; Walter Ettinger of the UMass Medical Center; Eric Schultz of Fallon Community Health Plan; James Gardiner, of the Worcester Department of Health and Human Services; Larry Freedman of Astrazeneca; Konstantina Lukes, city mayor; Steven Roach of the Nashoba Valley Medical Center; Frank Saba of Milford Regional Hospital; and Dan Moen of Heywood Hospital.

The heart association says Americans work long days in sedentary jobs, and are at greater risk of obesity and heart problems.
