Private equity funds jump
Dow Jones said U.S. private equity firms raised nearly $140 billion by 199 funds during the first six months of this year. That number is a 42 percent increase over the $96 billion raised by 147 funds during the same period last year. This puts the firms on pace to surpass $261 billion, the record total raised in 2006.
