Raytheon awarded for Special Olympics support

Raytheon Company, a firm specializing in defense industry and government electronics, was honored by Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) with awards and an induction into its Hall of Fame.

Raytheon's Integrated Defense System (IDS) president Dan Smith was given the first President's Award for his own commitment, along with IDS's support, of SOMA.  Engineering fellow Tom Kostizak of Raytheon's Network Centric Systems (NCS) division in Marlboro was inducted into SOMA's Hall of Fame for his work as a volunteer manager and co-director since 1998.

Raytheon sponsored SOMA with both funding and more than 700 volunteers in 2005 and 2006.  In addition to IDS and NCS involvement, Raytheon Global Headquarters, Raytheon Technical Services Company and Raytheon Australia also participated in Special Olympics events in Rhode Island, Colorado and Australia.
