Old Sturbridge Village will enlist the services of Event Network Inc. and JGL Management Services Co. to manage the Village's gift shop and solicit bids from companies interested in taking control of food services at the site.
Event Network, based in San Diego, will work with the Village to enhance merchandise options and store design. The firm manages retail operations for several large attractions, including the New York State Museum, the National Aquarium of Baltimore and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
JGL Mangement Services Co. of Princeton, NJ will help to identify a suitable vendor to take over food operations at OSV, which includes Bullard Tavern and the Oliver Wright Tavernm scheduled to reopen in early 2007 largely as a function hall, but with the potential for daily lunch and Sunday brunch services. JGL's clients include Carnegie Hall and the Woodnuff Arts Center.
OSV executive VP Paul Wykes said that the transition will allow the Village to focus on upgrading exhibits and programs while outside firms with the expertise in food services and merchandising management take over those other duties.
