A Southborough company that helps drug, tobacco and alcohol companies detect counterfeits and thefts has begun a joint venture with an Irish manufacturer.
Pharmorx Security Inc., located on Route 9, offers companies a computerized system, which it calls "AuthentiTrack." The system can mark products with unique identifiers such as two-dimensional bar codes, invisible inks and holograms. The company's proprietary systems let manufacturers track their products from the factory to the consumer or patient and include ways for consumers to check that their purchase is authentic.
The company announced a joint venture with the MSO Group Ltd., in Belfast, Ireland, which makes specialty labels and cartons. MSO will provide advanced packaging products while Pharmorx Security provides security technology.
Pharmorx was created in 2005 and got its first large pharmaceutical contract in 2008.
