Starrett Sales, Profits Rise
Athol tool manufacturer The L.S. Starrett Co. increased its sales 13 percent for the quarter ended in December and went from a loss to a $1.3-million profit for the quarter.
Starrett's sales for the quarter totaled $57.3 million, up from $50.5 million for the same period the previous year. The company's bottom line rose from a $312,000 loss to a profit of $1.3 million.
The majority of the increase in sales came from the North American market, where the company said a stronger industrial sector more than made up for a decline in the construction market.
