Tamara Colpack, Director of Catering, Marriott Courtyard in Marlborough and Westborough

 

After 10 years running the catering business for the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Worcester, Tamara Colpack is more than familiar with the Central Massachusetts hotel industry. Now, she's taken a new position at the Marriott Courtyard hotels in Marlborough and Westborough. In this Q&A, she talks about loving her job, and loving to ski.

Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. I have been working in this industry for the past 25 years and face challenges every day to find new and unique ways to exceed my guests' expectations.

Q. What's your favorite thing about Central Massachusetts?
A. My favorite thing about Central Mass is the people that donate their time to help others and make their community a better place to live, work and play.

Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up
doing?
A. My quote in my yearbook in high school was to find happiness in my work and my personal life. Working with people and creating lasting memories for a lifetime has filled my life with accomplishment and joy.

Q. How far is your commute to the office?
A. My commute is an hour and a half. 

Q. What's the best way to keep your energy and motivation up when you're having a long day?
A. The cure to long days and high energy is not only a good cup of coffee, but a reminder that all great things in life take hard work and the reward is not always immediate.

Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. The best place to have lunch would be at our restaurant, Felton's.

Q. Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
A. I have several hobbies, including skiing and snowmobiling. I'm also president of the Franklin Veterans Memorial Ski Area and co-chair of the Taste of the Nation. I spend most of my free time with my daughter Alexis, age 13, who plays field hockey, basketball and softball.

Q. What's on your to-do list for the next couple of days?
A. My top priorities for the next couple of weeks are getting to know all of the associates who will become my family for years to come and contacting my customers that I have done business with in Central Mass. for the past 10 years.
