TJX May Sales Top Expectations

Framingham-based TJX Cos. Inc. said its May sales increased 6 percent to $1.45 billion compared to May 2007.
The discount retailer said same-store sales posted a 2 percent increase for the month and a 3 percent increase for the 17 weeks ended May 31. The same-store sales increase was at the high end of the company's expectations for the month.
The company said sales were particularly strong "in regions where the weather was seasonable." TJX operates TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Bob's Stores and AJ Wright stores.
